In healthcare, evacuation is often not an option. We design defend-in-place fire strategies for hospitals and assisted living facilities that protect vulnerable patients while preventing water damage to multimillion-dollar medical equipment.
Hospitals and care facilities operate under a "defend-in-place" strategy, where fire protection systems must control a fire long enough for staff to secure patients in adjacent smoke compartments. Reliability is paramount, but so is the prevention of accidental discharge in sensitive areas.
We implement double-interlock pre-action systems in MRI rooms and surgical suites, which require two separate confirmation signals before releasing water. This protects multimillion-dollar diagnostic equipment from water damage due to accidental pipe breaks. For patient wings, we utilize quick-response anti-ligature heads that ensure safety without compromising the secure environment.
