What Sterling does
We're an Edmonton fire protection contractor. We design, install, inspect and repair the systems that keep a building's fire protection working: sprinklers, fire alarms, clean agent and other special hazard suppression, fire pumps and hydrants, backflow assemblies, emergency lighting and extinguishers.
Most of our work comes from two kinds of people. General contractors and developers who need a fire protection sub on a new build or a retrofit. And property and facility managers who need the systems in an existing building inspected, documented and kept legal.
How a project runs
On a new build, the order matters more than the price. Design comes first: hydraulic calculations, coordination with the other trades, permit drawings. Installation follows the trades' schedule, and it ends with acceptance testing, not with the last pipe hung. After occupancy the same systems go on an inspection schedule, and the paperwork from installation becomes the baseline for every report after it. General contractors can read how we'd walk through fire sprinkler submittals and permits at the start and fire protection closeout at the end.

Inspections and emergencies
Alberta puts inspection, testing and maintenance on the building owner, and the fire code names the standards, the intervals and the records. If you're new to it, the fire system inspection page lays out what's required and what a visit involves.
